Mandra Edera hotel accommodation

This lovely family run hotel has good quality accommodation and lots of personal touches.  The owners are clearly committed to ensuring their guests have a really relaxing, comfortable holiday with a genuinely Sardinian feel.

4 guest rooms and 8 garden suites make this is a small, personal hotel, and every room has been individually furnished to high standards.

Guest rooms are in the main building, with views across the grounds and garden, while suites are spaced among the trees in the grassy grounds.  Everywhere there is space, nature, fresh air and peace.

Rooms are cool and soothing.  All have airconditioning, and suites have hydromassage showers and all the facilities you would expect from accommodation of this standard.

And cars are kept well away from the rooms and main house, to ensure both guests and horses are quiet and safe.

Suites have a double bedroom and a sitting room, and use indigenous materials and crafts to create an authentic local feel, although one which is sophisticated rather than rustic.

The Licheris have constructed Mandra Edera with huge attention to detail, and have been committed to using local materials and craftspeople.  Furniture and doors use chestnut and quercia wood, with local wrought iron handles and detailing, and ceilings are lined with the interwoven cane which is a traditional building material in central Sardinia.

Meals are served on the terrace overlooking the grounds, or inside the large traditional dining rooms.  There are individual tables, or a large communal table for those who like to socialise.  The terrace has a huge stone woodburning oven, plus an ancient stone pipe with pure drinkable water built into the side of the house.

Chef Nicola creates Italian dishes with a Sardinian flavour;  much of the fresh produce is grown at Mandra Edera, which has a large kitchen garden as well as vineyard, and traditional Oristanese dishes and regional dishes are mixed with more familiar "Italian" fare.

Plus, special diets can always be catered for, and children can be offered simpler, smaller dishes if they prefer.

Many guests come here simply for a relaxing holiday - others are keen to take the opportunity to ride as well.  For details of the riding programme click through here, and to find out more about the Anglo Arab Sardo breed and Mandra Edera horses click through here.

The Mandra Edera horses often wander freely in the grounds...
