Anthias
Diving's main centre is just outside Cannigione at Tanca Manna, on the edge of the
beautiful National Marine Park which extends around the entire archipelago
of La Maddalena www.lamaddalenapark.it/.
This is one of the oldest Marine Parks in Italy; having been protected
from fishing, pollution and other incursions for many years, its
waters are home to a huge range of underwater life.
A
wide range of species is found here throughout the year including pelagics, barracuda, large grouper, plus rare corals and the occasional dolphin.
The Anthias team know the area intimately, and are delighted to share their
knowledge with anyone interested in learning more about the underwater environment.
Much of the diving takes place in the La Maddalena
area, where rocky granite outcrops and pinnacles provide shelter
and a variety of depths and dive types. From the Anthias centre at Capo Ceraso south of Olbia the Protected Marine Area of Tavolara/Coda Cavallo, www.parks.it/riserva.marina.tavolara/
is in easy reach. For those interested in wrecks, there are interesting sites including the well-known Angelika.
Visibility is good throughout the year,
with clear water throughout Spring, Summer and Autumn. Winter
diving is also possible, although a drysuit is advisable.
