Valkarana and the Diga Liscia lake are in the countryside just north of the village of Sant' Antonio di Gallura, around 30 minutes drive from Olbia and 2 hours from Alghero airport.

To arrive by public transport, there are buses to Sant' Antonio di Gallura run by arst (see naturalsardinia – Getting There), and Valkarana can pick you up from Sant' Antonio.  Or, the little trenino verde mountain train is an option in the summer.

By car, from Olbia take the road signposted Tempio, then S.Antonio.  Once in Sant' Antonio, which has one main road running directly through it, you will see signposts to the left, west, indicating the road.  There are numerous signposts clearly marking the route along the small country road.  Cross over the railway lines at the trenino verde halt, then through the large granite gateway marked Valkarana.
