This is a lovely, family-run hotel on the edge of the quiet village of Bitti in the province of Nuoro, and is filled with traditional Sardinian craft and textiles collected by the owners. Bitti is a good base for walking or for touring the island by bicycle or car, with many parts of the island reachable within a day, and it also has a variety of festivals, exhibitions and displays focusing on the traditions of the Barbagia. The village is also only 30 minutes from the coast and its famously beautiful beaches. Su Lithu has an attractive pool, rooms furnished in local style, and a good restaurant creating traditional Sardinian cuisine using produce from the family farm, as well as a pizzeria and many more familiar Italian dishes. It's on a tranquil hillside on the edge of Bitti, with views across the rooftops to the mountains beyond; the air is clean and fresh.
What makes Su Lithu special:
Its village location in the heart of the island; the opportunity to explore the culture of rural Sardinia; the welcoming and friendly family owners.
If you want to discover a different side of Sardinia to the one shown on all the postcards, Bitti is off the main tourist track. For a feel of the traditional Sardinian way of life in a small rural community, Su Lithu and the surrounding area offer visitors who want to see more of the island beyond its beaches a very relaxing break.
